0037 Cucharas Pass Fog
near La Veta, southern Colorado

Midway down the east side of the Sangre de Cristo Range exists a pass that separates the chain from the Spanish Peaks. Called Cucharas Pass, its north side boasts beautiful aspen groves and thick fields of scrub oak. One spring I was driving after sunrise and in a morning rain shower when the clouds began to clear. The resulting fog created depth in the scene and a glow not possible in clear weather.
