This is one of my favorite ranch scenes in Colorado. You could not find a more dramatic backdrop than the Sneffels Range in the San Juan Mountains. This is part of the 25,000 acre Double RL Ranch owned by Polo Sportswear maven Ralph Lauren. The black angus cattle and colors of autumn complement high peaks of the Sneffels Range. Ralph's assistant ranch manager was warily looking at me from the ranch house while I made the photograph. I am standing on the side of a county road that bisects the ranch, and he was just making sure that I did not stray onto private property.
