0031 Pawnee Buttes Wildflowers #2
Pawnee National Grassland, northeastern Colorado

Pink locoweed grows profusely in the sandy soils around the Pawnee Buttes of northeastern Colorado. If spring rains have arrived, the wildflower peak occurs in May in the grasslands. Such weather actually began to produce dark clouds of an incipient thunderstorm in the morning! Just before the clouds blocked the rising sun, I was able to make this image with beautiful light on the flowers.
