0016 Dolores River Seep
Southwestern Colorado

My favorite Colorado rafting trip penetrates the Dolores River Canyon in the southwestern corner of the state. Red sandstone walls up to 1,000 feet high imprison the river. I spied from the river this fertile place with grass and cottonwood trees high up on the cliff. A seep of water oozing out of the sandstone cliff natures this misplaced ecosystem. The sun is setting to the right.
