0007 Weminuche Paintbrush #1
Weminuche Wilderness, San Juan Mountains

I've hiked the 80-mile stretch of the Continental Divide Trail through the Weminuche Wilderness a couple of times. This image was made on the first trip. At sunrise I used my widest angle lens to get very close to the pink Indian paintbrush, which makes the flowers look larger than they really are in relation to the background. This effect creates a sense of "place" like no other technique.
